St. Loman's and Castledaly will do battle for the Flanagan Cup on October 11 following their respective semi-final wins over Mullingar Shamrocks and Tyrrellspass this afternoon.

In the first part of the Cusack Park double bill, 2008 winners Castledaly caused a major upset when they ousted Tyrrellspass on a 0-18 to 1-12 scoreline. The 'Tidy Town' looked set for victory when Ray Sheridan's goal gave them a 1-8 to 0-9 lead seven minutes into the second half, but with Lorcan Dolan in fine scoring form, John Donnellan's underdogs roared back to take the spoils.

Castledaly's appearance in the county final comes just 12 months after they beat Athlone in a relegation playoff.

In the other semi-final, John Heslin netted in either half as 2013 champions St. Loman's saw off town rivals Mullingar Shamrocks by 2-8 to 0-7.

The county star raised an early green flag for Luke Dempsey's charges, but Shamrocks fought back to regain parity, 0-4 to 1-1, at the break. However, Loman's were the better team in the second half and Heslin sealed their place in the final when finishing his rebounded penalty to the net.
