St Marys Rochfortbridge club notes

u 14 championship,
St.Marys made the long trip to Clonmellon last week to play St.Earnans in the second last group game in this championship. After a few small hick ups in other games St.Marys knew that nothing less than a win was going to be good enough if they were to progress in the semi finals. The team travelled in good spirits and in plenty of time.St.marys were first out of the traps and got going straight away with great link up play from midfielders and forwards and started getting some great scores.St.Marys were really dominating play and scoring some great goals also,Our backs were imensce again when called on and really they held a great line through the whole first half,At the break St.Marys were in full control on the scoreboard but coaches were quick to reasure that this game had 30 more mins and no game was won.The second half started and as it finished our lads kept driving well and working as a unit, subs were made and they worked very well and gelled well with the other lads and it was St.Marys that were to come out on top,St.Marys 7-12 - St.Earnans 1-08

u 14 championship Last sunday
We were at home for this last group game in the championship against Inny Gaels,We were expecting nothing less than a battle today with such a big combination of inny gaels. Our lads started the quickest and were dominating in the middle of the park and settled quite quickly and started finding form and great link up play. Our younger lads really came into this game and gave a great account of them selves early on in the first period. The point scoring from distance today was incredibale and it was very accurate too.We were in control and never took the foot off the pedal in the first half. Our defending was at a very high standard too and really tight,By half time it was 2-11 - 1-00 and in the second half we knew inny would come out fighting in the second half and that they did they really brought the game to us and played some great stuff and unted the intenisty in the game scoreing  3-02 in the second half but our lads kepted the scoreboard ticking themselves with 2-03.The game was played in great spirits and st.marys ran out winner 4-14 - 4-02.

Minor championship.st.marys 0-08 -rosemount 0-12.tonight was a tough night for football with that wind.it was a game of two halves and we owned the ball in the first half and rosemount we in control of the second period.maybe we just didnt convert enough in the opening half but we played well and we take alot from these games.early days and missing lads and injury worrys but we wont get bogged down on this result.we will take alot of possitives from tonight and bring those into our next game. This is a crutial time of year with hols and injurys.Tonight we seen 2 good footballing sides that will keep fighting in the championship. We look forward to the next day out and hopefully the result will be sweeter too.

Hard luck to our u16 team who were beaten for the first time in championship last night.we were unlucky to have two lads playing and sick before the game and they gave there all for the jersey along with the other guys.early days lads in this years championship,The lads gave there all in this game and worked extremely hard and were converting some great scores and working like a unit and the 45 taking was imence to see at this age group and really takes your breath.unlucky lads tonight but we know you will continue to work hard and we look forward to your next day out.
