Intermediate Football Relegation Play-Off
We are fixed to play CFCW on Friday in Kinnegad at 18:30 in this play-off. It was most unfortunate, given our performance against Moate last weekend, that the results from the other group games consigned us to this fixture but such is life and we will look for the lads to give another huge effort against the north Westmeath side. Despite CFCW's form in the group stages and all the talk of them having trouble fielding teams etc, they will undoubtedly pull together all their players for this fixture and they will be formiddable opponents. However, we have played a lot of very good football ourselves this year and the Tang and second half of the Rosemount game aside, we were more than competitive and proved, to ourselves at least, that this young side is developing and that we are worthy of retaining our status. The team has received great support all year and we are counting on it one more time next Friday evening in Kinnegad. Throw in is 18:30, see you there!

Minor Football Championship
We played Milltownpass last Wednesday evening in Ballinagore. We were slow to start and generally poor in the opening half but a Bryan Pidgeon penalty kept us in touch as we trailed by 2-09 to 2-02 at half time. Our second half performance saw a massive improvement but we were guilty of some bad wides. We tired towards the end and Milltownpass held out to win 2-16 to 2-09. Best for us were Naoise McKenna, Robbie Keegan and Bryan Pidgeon. Team: Keenan Carroll, Joe Fagan, Naoise McKenna, Paul O'Sullivan, Robbie Keegan, Eoghan Mullarkey, Shane Meehan, Paddy Doody, Sean Maher, Bryan Pidgeon, James Murphy, Stephen Clarke, Sean McGuinness, Cormac Deegan, Michael Creegan. Subs all used: David Ennis, Tommy Kelly, William Hayes.

U14 Division 2 Championship
Our U14's had a busy weekend as they played their final two group games. On Friday evening, we hosted neighbours Tyrrellspass. After a close first half, we were a point down, 0-08 to 1-04. In the second half, Tyrrellspass looked to be getting on top and went four points up at one stage. However two Cathal Daly goals and a spirited team effort by our lads saw us come back and win on a final score of 4-07 to 1-14. On Sunday morning, we travelled to Streamstown to play Kilbeggan/St. Joseph's. A poor first half by our lads saw us behind by 2-09 to 0-01 at half time. Credit to the lads, they never threw in the towel, and battled to the end but ultimately lost by 2-15 to 1-05. These results mean that we lose out on the championship semi-final but have instead qualified for the shield semi-final. No doubt the lads will put in a big effort and hopefully we can reach the final. Panel: Ciaran Gourke, Matthew Looram, Mark Killian, Cody Finnane, Paddy Doran, Cian Gavigan, Conall Fagan, Fergal O'Brien, David Jackson, Darragh Seery, Harry Ripley, Conor Murphy, Zack Wright, Peter Reynolds, Warwic Kirby, Mark Kiernan, Eoin Glennon, Cathal Maher, Lorcan Kiernan.

Ladies Football
Hard luck to Kilbeggan Shamrocks Ladies football team, which includes a number of Ballinagore girls, who were defeated by reigning champions Milltown in the semi-final of the Senior Championship on Sunday in Athlone.

Coming and Going
We want to wish Lorraine Claffey the very best of luck as she heads off to Bayonne in France for the year on study. Best wishes also to Peter Deegan as he jets back to Australia following his holiday at home. We hope to see you both soon again. Welcome home to Lorraine's brother, Stephen Claffey, who has just arrived home from New York.

Club Lotto
Last weeks numbers were 2, 5, 10 and 13. There was no jackpot winner and we had no local match 3 winners. Next weeks jackpot is now at €15,120.

Back to School
You could hardly call them the 'Summer' Holidays but they're at an end now and it's back to school time now. We want to wish all the new junior infants in Ballinagore NS and the first year students in secondary school the very best of luck as they embark on their new beginnings!
