Coralstown/Kinnegad and Maryland have been hit with fines

Two clubs have been hit with fines, while a team mentor has received a lengthy suspension, arising from a melee which marred a recent Westmeath SFC game.

The brawl broke out near the end of last Sunday week's clash between Coralstown/Kinnegad and Maryland at Cusack Park after a member of the Coralstown/Kinnegad backroom team allegedly struck Maryland player and former county minor Bryan O'Donoghue as he retrieved the ball from the sideline.

Following an investigation carried out by the Westmeath CCC, it's believed the clubs have been issued with fines of between €1,000 and €2,000. The Westmeath Topic also understands that a 48-week ban has been proposed for the Coralstown/Kinnegad backroom team member.
