Tang v Moate

Tang made the short trip to Tubberclair for their clash with Moate in the the third round of the Intermediate Championship last Wednesday evening.

Tang took advantage of the perfect conditions to play some great football in the first half, quickly opening up a four points to one lead through points from three Aidan Burke points and one from Martin Rock Tang continued to pile on the pressure and a raking Niall Neary pass found Alan Higgins who dispatched to the net.Tang continued their domination with Sean Egan and Trevor English in fine form at midfield. Further points from Aidan Burke and Martin Rock left Tang leading by a wide margin before a excellent move saw Robert English put Martin Rock through for Tang's second goal. Moate responded with a couple of points but Niall Neary and Trevor English cancelled these out. Tang led at half time by 2-9 to 0-3.

Moate came out int the second half looking for a quick response a got it through a well taken goal. Tang cancelled out this goal with points from Aidan Burke, Trevor English and Aidan Burke. However two quick fire goals from Moate reduced to lead to just six points. Martin Rock kicked two vital points to relieve the pressure at this stage and Tang managed to see out the game with the final score reading 2-16 to 3-07.

This was a good performance from Tang in the first half in particular and gives us two more points in the championship.

Tang v Ballynacargy

Tang took on Ballynacargy in the championship in Athlone on Saturday evening.

Tang played with the aid of the stiff breeze and duly took advantage of these conditions. Points from Aidan Burke and John and Martin Rock opened up a four point to one lead. Tang went further ahead through two more points each from John Rock and Aidan Burke before Kieran Duncan made a great goal line clearance to prevent Ballynacargy getting a much needed goal. Both teams traded points to leave the half time score at reading nine points to two in Tang's favour.

Ballynacargy quickly used the wind advantage to tag back a couple of points but Martin Rock swung a great point over the bar to keep Tang six points ahead. Alan Higgins got on the end of a great move to fire over the bar before Aidan Burke curled over a score with his left foot. Ballynacargy didn't give up hope and reduced the lead again before John Rock got his fourth point of the game. Ballynacargy threw everything at Tang and with the last kick of the game got the goal they desperately needed however it was just too late. The final score read 13 points to 1-9.

This win leaves us Tang with four wins from four and puts us through to the semi final with a game to spare.
