Team = Eanna Duffy, Darragh Kelly, Ciaran Henson, Shane Fitzpatrick, Neil Young , Paul Henson, Shane Dolan, Gordon Duffy, MJ Kelly, Damien Stone, Paul Costello, Eamon Fleming, Conor Foley, Francis Bradley, Davy Stone. Subs Russell Casey, Alan Fitzgerald, Niall O Neill,

Castledaly put together a good first half performance with points from MJ Kelly 1-02(1f), Conor Foley 02, Eamon Fleming 01, Gordon Duffy 01, Davy Stone 01; MJ Kelly added a goal capitalising on great play from Francis Bradley and Eamon Fleming. The home team rallied and a goal just before half time left the home team leading at the break at 1-10 1-07. Castledaly substituted injured Ciaran Henson with Niall O Neill early in first half and similarly Paul Henson and Damien Stone were replaced both by Russell Casey and Alan Fitzgerald at start of second half.

Castledaly again started well with Eamon Fleming getting under high ball goal mouth effort but unlucky not to add to his team score with two chances in matter of minutes. The Downs extended their lead to 1-12 to 1-07 before Castledaly's Fleming saw another shot saved. Downs added another point before MJ Kelly added a free kick and then Conor Foley added his third point thanks to a pass from Niall O'Neill. Castledaly rallied and got back in the game with a well struck goal from Davy Stone who took a Francis Bradley pass in his stride before dispatching to back of the net to trail by the minimum -- 1-13 2-09.
Davy Stone was alert and his next attack won another free kick  - dispatched assuredly by MJ Kelly to equalise. But The Downs pressed their home advantage and went ahead 2-14 2-10 with a goal effort that should have been cleared by Castledaly defence. The home team seized their chances to added three points to Castledaly's single MJ Kelly effort and the final score ended The Downs 2-17 Castledaly 2-11

Castledaly Seniors played a Challenge Match against St. Brigids of Kiltoom on Sunday morning and despite unpleasant weather it was an educational and energetic game provided a very strong and entertaining test. We thank everyone for their warm welcome and hospitality and we wish them the best for the year ahead.

Castledaly Under ten's GAA Blitz took place on Tuesday evening last with neighbours Moate All Whites, Rosemount, Caulry, and Garrycastle invited entertaining the large crowd with their skill, abilities, energy and sportsmanship.  Huge thanks to everyone who made it such a success.

Sadly our Westmeath Seniors were defeated by a spirited Fermanagh at weekend and brings to an end our Championship dreams for another year.  This extended campaign has shown progress in our Westmeath abilities and shone light on some of our home grown stars of present and future.  We should not let last weekend result diminish the achievements in recent years and we look forward to future campaigns. Iarmhi Abu.
