U12 Boys
Athlone 9-08 Garrycastle 4-03
Athlone U12's played host to Garrycastle in division 1A in the 2nd phase of the league. The game was played on a windy, sunny evening which gave the players on both teams plenty to cope with.
Athlone played against the wind in the first half and were slow to settle into the match allowing Garrycastle to get some early scores but with some positional changes Athlone finished the half well to leave the half time score at Garrycastle 4 - 3 Athlone 3 - 0. With half time Athlone were able to reorganise and playing with the wind in the 2nd half they took complete control of the game. This was a great team performance on the night with everybody doing their bit.

U10 Boys
Athlone v Ballymore
Our U10s made the trip to Ballymore for a blitz involving the hosts, Maryland / Tang, St Lomans and Tubberclair. Unfortunately we could only muster 17 players on the night due to holidays which meant that we only fielded one 11 a side team. However the lads that were there gave their all. In the first match, we played Tubberclair and a very tight game ensued with nothing between the teams at the long whistle. The second match was against St Loman's and the Mullingar lads had the better of things from the off as the Athlone lads were uncharacteristically slow to get going and Loman's ran out deserved winners. Nonetheless, each game they play is a learning curve and they continue to improve with each passing week. Keep up the hard work lads. Thanks to Joe Kincaid and his helpers in Millmore for hosting us.
The Athlone panel on the night were: Adam Casey, Cian Dolan, Luke Farrell, Cathal Hardiman, Toby Heavey, Josh Kenny, Johnny Martin, Cillian McGowan, Evan McMickan, Dano McMonagle, Owen McNamara, Kian Mitchell Tiernan Mitchell, Luke O'Connell, Ian Rushe, Jason Rushe and Shane Wheatley.
