Ladies Championship

St Lomans Mullingar 1.09 Milltown 0.09

St Lomans ladies finished off the group stage of the championship with maximum points after a hard earned win against county champions Milltown in Lakepoint Park on Thursday evening last.

Playing against a strong wind in the first half the girls found themselves five points down after twenty mins. St Lomans found a way back into the game when a well worked move found Sarah McManus on the end of a great pass from Leona Archibald and she riffled the ball to the net. Both teams added points before the break with Milltown a point in front at half time.

After exchanging scores in the opening ten mins of the second half St Lomans were reduced to 14 players when Catie Heslin was sent to the sin bin. The girls battled hard to not only hold on for the following ten minutes but were able to go into the lead with some great scores by Bridgie Heslin. It was a lead that wouldn't be overturned and St Lomans finished three point winners!
