Ballinagore GAA Notes

June 29, 2015

Minor Football League
Having only played once in 2015, we were fixed to play three times in five days last week. We ended up playing two of these games with our final fixture against Caulry being called off. On Monday evening we played Rosemount in Ballinagore. After a slow start by both sides, Rosemount gradually got on top and progressed to win comfortably in the end. Our second fixture of the week was agains The Downs, also in Ballinagore. We played better in this game and chalked up some fine scores but our opponents ability to score goals gave them a comfortable win. It was evident that our panel, between exams, huges gaps between minor fixtures and other reasons, have not trained together enough and will need to put in a lot of work between now and the start of the championship. The ability is there in abundance but our cohesiveness, inter-play and fitness needs work.

Underage Fixtures
U12 vs Ballycomoyle, Wednesday 1st July at 19:30 in Ballinagore
Minor vs St. Lomans is fixed for same time and venue. Change will be notified by text.

Intermediate Team News
Training continues this week. Any changes to days or times will be notified by text. Our thanks to Kilbeggan Shamrocks for travelling to Ballinagore last Friday evening for a challenge.

Meet & Train
Our meet and train group meet on Tuesdays and Fridays at 19:30 at the walking track. It is a great way to build up your fitness and meet up with friends on these summer evenings. Why not come along and enjoy the fun!

Rounders
We play Greenhills of Dublin in the championship in Tymon Park, Templeogue on Sunday morning at 11:30am. Our performances have shown real improvements so far this year so we hope that this continues on Sunday.

Wonderful Westmeath
We enjoyed an historic double over our neighbours Meath last Sunday. On Sunday morning our ladies footballers, including Fiona, Triona and Sarah, scored an emphatic 3-15 to 1-05 victory over the Royal ladies to reach the Leinster final. This was followed up by the most impressive comeback seen in Croke Park in years when a thirteen point turnaround in the second half gave our men a most memorable win to setup a Leinster final date with Dublin. Well done to all concerned, including Gilbert Carey who got a special mention on the Sunday Game by Dessie Dolan for all his great work down the years with our county team. There was great local support caught on TV on the day also with Seamus and Catriona Ennis, Cathal Daly, Louis and Gavin Ennis, Peter, Eoin and Luke Robinson all being captured by the cameramen enjoying a very special day for Westmeath football.

Club Lotto
Last weeks winning numbers were 14, 15, 20 and 26. We had one match 3 winner, well done Shay Maloney! Next weeks jackpot is a whopping €12,060.
