Junior Championship
St Lomans Mullingar 3.08 Athlone 3.11
St Lomans began their Junior Championship campaign against Athlone in Lakepoint Park on Friday evening last. It was a high scoring encounter with both teams enjoying dominant spells at different stages of the game.
St Lomans with the aid of the wind in the first half enjoyed most of the possession clocking up two goals and six points in a decent first half display. Ronan O Toole was on fine form, kicking four points. Darragh O Keeffe and Timmy Murphy provided great assistance to the forward line and Darragh O Keeffe capped this with a point after a wonderful solo run. Michael Gleeson impressed most for St Lomans and he raised the green flag to cancel out a goal for the visitors.  Athlone kept themselves right in the mix with four points but a Sean Flanagan goal gave St Lomans a five point lead at the break.

Athlone upped their game considerably in the second half and were denied an early goal only for goalkeeper Jason Daly to make a wonderful save. Ronan O Toole added two points to his tally but Athlone continued to clock up the scores and a goal from the classy Jack Quinn soon levelled the game. St Lomans responded in perfect fashion when an Enda Matthews pass found its way to Timmy Murphy who buried to the roof of the net. The visitors added three points to level the game once again and the killer blow came when a high ball into the box was fisted to the net to give them a lead that wouldn't be overturned.

Division 1
St Lomans Mullingar 0.08 Mullingar Shamrocks 1.10
Mullingar Shamrocks were the visitors to Lakepoint Park on Saturday evening last for a Division 1 league tie. The evening rain made for slippery conditions making it difficult for a free flowing game of football.
A scrappy opening quarter with numerous frees saw the visitors reduced to fourteen men after just eight minutes. Shamrocks had the better of the opening exchanges with Ciaran Curley, Paddy Fagan and Seanie Daly all kicking points. John Heslin(2) and Shane Dempsey(2) points in between these scores saw the sides level heading into the second quarter. Gerry Grehan playing as the free man mopped up a lot of the breaking balls but Paddy Fagan was proving trouble once again and kicked over two more points to give Shamrocks a two point lead at the interval.
A lacklustre second half performance from St Lomans left defeat inevitable. The deciding moment of the game came four minutes into the half when Simon Quinn sent an unstoppable shot to the back of the net. David Morgan, John Heslin and Shane Dempsey added points to cancel out Shamrocks scores midway through the half. St Lomans tried to get a way back into the game but were wasteful kicking a number of wides and the visitors held out to take the points.
Team; Jason Daly, Neil O Toole, Jason O Toole, David Rushe, Gerry Grehan, Shane Flynn, David Whelan, John Heslin, David Morgan, Ronan O Toole, Conradh Reilly, David Windsor, Cormac Corroon, Garrett Hickey, Shane Dempsey. Subs Used; Sean Flanagan, Conor Cochrane, Daniel Sheridan, Timmy Murphy.
