Intermediate Football Championship

All roads lead to Rosemount next Saturday evening when we take on Tang in the 1st round of the Intermediate Championship. To say this is a difficult assignment is a massive understatement as we face up to one of the grades perennial favourites for the third year in succession. We were soundly beaten in our previous two encounters - 1-17 to 1-04 in 2013 and 1-25 to 0-06 last year are harsh reminders of Tangs scoring potential. Tang are currently flying high in division two and it will be a major challenge for our lads. We've had our own injury concerns in recent weeks and we're still waiting on a few lads to recover this week. Fingers crossed that Keith and his selectors will have a full hand to play from on Saturday. Our league results have been promising this year so far and the lads have shown great spirit in training so we're hoping that we will see them give a huge effort next Saturday evening. We would love for as many locals as possible to make the short jaunt across to Rosemount on Saturday evening to cheer them on!

U14 Football League
Lilliput Gaels 7-04 Garrycastle 0-08
Well done to our U14 footballers who recorded a fine win over Garrycastle last Monday evening in Garrycastle. On an extremely cold and blustery evening, the lads played some delightful football, particularly against the wind in the opening half. Garrycastle started strongest with home and wind advantage but were wasteful with a number of shots going wide. We scored a goal with our first real attack after almost ten minutes of defending, and this seemed to settle our team and give them the confidence to kick on. That they did and we scored three more goals to lead by 4-01 to 0-02 at half time. Garrycastle, to their credit, put in a real battling performance in the second half and the scoreline scarely does them justice. They had lots of possession in a second half we thought we would really dominate given the strong wind. We tended to go for goal when points were on offer and on another day we could have paid dearly. However the lads did manage to finish the game out in style and our support play and work rate was excellent on the day. A real team effort, well done lads! Team: Matthew Looram, Mark Killian, Morgan Gavigan, Mark Kiernan, David Jackson, Conell Fagan, Harry Ripley, Fergal O'Brien, Paddy Doran, Cian Gavigan, Cathal Maher, Jack Gallagher, Conor Murphy, Eoin Glennon, Barry Bolger, Peter Reynolds, Cody Finnane.
