Maryland GAA Notes

May 25, 2015

Senior ChampionshipWith the anticipation building for the past few weeks, Championship season is finally now upon us with our first outing against Castledaly taking place on Sunday 31stMay @ 6.30pm in Moate, ref Mick Gordon. Come out and support our lads to help us get across the line.

Ardnagrath NS

We would like to congratulate all the Ardnagrath teams which took part in their respective county finals this week. A great achievement to get to this stage and well done to all involved. Well done to both Girl's teams who won their Camogie final on Monday and Football final on Wednesday, great stuff girls and keep up the hard work. Hard luck to the Boy's team who lost out on the day in their football final. Huge achievement to get 3 teams to County finals in 1 year and to bring home silverware from 2 is brilliant. We would like to thank all involved in the coaching and who helped out in anyway as these young players are the future of our club and we will be seeing them represent the Blue of Maryland in the coming years.

Division 1

We played Bunbrosna in Division 1 on Saturday last, conditions on the evening were perfect for a good game of football. This is exactly what ensued on the pitch. This was a fast flowing game of football with some well taken scores by our lads while still making some simple mistakes all over the pitch. On the day we ran out winners on a score line of 3-15 to 1-6. This was a great win to bring us in to our first Championship match next weekend.

Lotto

No Jackpot winner and no match 3 winner in last week's draw. Next week's lotto jackpot is €7400 Draw takes place on 27th May.

Walking Club

Our walkers completed the Drumraney to Ballymore walk on Sunday last, this was a cross country route which showed some of the historical sites of the Parish. A good turnout of over 60 participants led to an enjoyable outing for all. Many thanks to all the landowners that allowed us access, Peter Cunningham (for the in-running commentary!), PJ Maxwell & Nancy Cunningham for their local history contributions along the way, Declan Rooney for the tea and sandwiches & TP Lowry for his usual insightful observations and efficient organisation of the event.

Examinations

We would like to wish all our Members and supporters the best of luck as they prepare to sit their junior and leaving certificates in the coming week.

Maryland/Tang Football Nursery

The Maryland/Tang GAA football nursery continues this Friday 29th May in Drumraney from 6:30pm until 7:30.
For boys and girls aged 4 to 7, the nursery introduces children to sport and helps them to develop their motor skills of agility, balance and coordination through fun and games.
The children will play games in small groups and parents are welcome to get involved in running these games. No football boots or gear required, just come along and have fun!
