Tang resumed their league campaign with a home game against The Downs.
Tang were hoping to continue their winning ways in this competition and started brightly with Trevor English registering an early point. Tang continued to dominate possession and Niall Bannon and Martin Rock tagged on two more points. Niall Bannon slotted over another fine point before Trevor English utilised the wind advantage to kick a long range score. Strong defending from Dean Reddin coupled with Robert English and Sean Egan cutting out many of The Downs attack kept limited The Downs to one point during this period. Niall Bannon continued his fine display with three more well taken points and The Downs could only respond with a solitary point before half time leaving the score 8 points to 2 in Tang's favour.
The Downs came out of the blocks much faster in the second half using the elements to score a goal and a point. This left just two points between the teams however Niall Bannon settled Tang down with a brace of points. Colm Donoghue got forward from wing back to clip over a fine score to stretch Tang's lead once more. However The Downs began to take control of the game and kicked five points on the trot to level matters. Tang were under pressure at this stage but showed good grit and determination and Chris Connor got forward to kick over an excellent point. The Downs responded by kicking two more well taken points to take the lead for the first time. At this stage Tang were staring defeat in the face but didn't lie down and Niall Bannon curled over a late pressure free. The game was end to end in the last five minutes and Tang had keeper Michael Galvin to thank when he pulled off a point blank save, and neither side could find the breakthrough. The final score read Tang 0-13 The Downs 1-10.
Both sides will rue their missed chances particularly Tang in the first half when they were dominating possession however a draw was probably the fair result.

Intermediate Championship
Our first round of the Championship takes place this Saturday against Ballinagore at 7:30 in Rosemount. All support is greatly appreciated as we hope to get off to a good start in Championship football.
