Division 6 League:
St Josephs 2-13   Loughnavalley 1-08
St Josephs opened our league campaign  with a useful win over neighbours  Loughnavalley  at their pitch on Sunday 22 March.  Games between  our two clubs are always keenly contested and Sundays was a good game with both sides doing their best to play decent football. St Josephs  were somewhat rusty in the opening period as it was over six months since we played a full game together and it showed as our opponents were somewhat sharper in their play for much of the opening half. Saying that, we did hold a slender one point lead at half time when ahead by 0-8 to 1-4. Loughnavalley opened the scoring with a free inside two minutes which was equalised by Niall Moran in the 4th minute and by the 10th minute we led by 0-3 to 0-1 with Neil Keegans point from play being the pick of the scores. With little to choose between the sides, Loughnavalley gained an advantage when their full forward fired home a goal past Martin Looram and the home side led by 1-2 to 0-3 after 16 minutes.  They kept their lead until the final minute of the half but St Josephs with three further points from frees by Niall Moran and points from play from Patrick Egan and Thomas Moran edged in front at the break.  In the second half, St Josephs upped the ante somewhat and despite a rocky period midway through the half claimed the spoils with goals from Patrick Egan and Andrew Mc Cormack proving instrumental. In the end, St Josephs won the second half by 2-5 to 0-4 and were eight ahead at the finish. A good result though much tougher tasks lie ahead.
