Underage Registration Day
We had a fantastic day on Saturday at the pitch in Crookedwood as big numbers of children, parents and supporters came to meet Killkenny Hurler John Power and his father Richie senior for our underage Registration day. John put many of our underage hurlers through their paces and even had a word with our intermediate team. A massive thank you to John and Richie for travelling from Killkenny and spending the day with us. Thank you also to all parents, helpers and committee members who worked behind the scenes to ensure that everything ran smoothly.
Hats will be distributed to all underage players by their mentors when training commences.
Challenge Match
On Sunday evening we made the short trip to Castlepollard to face last years senior finalists in a challenge game. A lively game transpired, played in ideal conditions for hurling. The 'Wood went in at half time with a 1-8 to 0-5 lead, with our goal coming courtesy of Barry O'Mara. In the second half we continued to keep the scoreboard ticking over with some fine scores both from play and placed balls. Brian McLoughlin struck two goals in quick succession to seal the win for our lads on a score-line of 3-16 to 1-12. A great performance by all with Championship just 4 weeks away.
Training
Training continues this week on Tuesday and Thursday at 8 and as stated above we have championship in four weeks so things are stepping up on the training field.
