Irish Daily Star National League Division 2
Round 4 of the League saw table toppers Kildare come to visit last Sunday.  On a lovely sunny but windy day, Kildare made the most of the fact that they had the wind and sun on their backs in the first half and got off the mark in the first minute with a point by midfielder Louise Keatley. This was followed by frees in the 4th and 8th minutes to put the visitors 3 points up.  Westmeath's first score came after 10 minutes courtesy of a Dinah Loughlin free before Kildare went on a scoring spree with two points followed closely by a goal.  Indeed the second of the points could well have been a goal but for some good work by keeper Fiona Keating.  The next 15 minutes were all Kildare with two further points and a second goal.  Westmeath's 2nd and 3rd points of the half came in injury time courtesy of Katie Heffernan and Loughlin (a free).  The half time score was Westmeath 0-3 Kildare 2-7.

Westmeath started the second half brightly with the first two scores in the first two minutes from Pamela Greville and Denise McGrath but Kildare responded a minute later with a point.  Greville doubled her tally after 5 minutes before Kildare hit a purple patch scoring 5 unanswered points.  Denise McGrath got a consolation point in injury time to leave the full time score Westmeath 0-7 Kildare 2-13.

The next game for the team will be away to Laois on Easter Sunday.
