Ballinagore GAA Notes

March 02, 2015

ACL Division 4
Ballinagore 3-10 St Paul's 1-11
We secured our first points in this years league with this hard earned but deserved win over a determined St Paul's side last Saturday in Ballinagore. On a wild and wet day, we played with the assistance of a strong wind in the first half. We held a sizeable lead at half time but we knew that the wind was a major factor and so it proved. St Paul's goaled within a minute of the restart and that gave them the impetus to throw the kitchen sink at us. Fortunately we held on and some well taken scores, coupled with some brave defending, ensured we got our campaign off to a winning start. We played some fine football especially in the first half but we were inclined to give possession away too easily as we tired in the second half. Great to see James Durkan back in competitive action while Enda Kenny had a lively debut for us. Team: Cathal Daly, Enda Claffey, Martin Linnane, Kieran Deegan, Cormac Quinn, Ciaran Carey, Declan Claffey, Frankie Deegan, James Durkan, Cathal Ennis, Eoin Miller, Brandon Carey, Enda Kenny, Tommy McDaniel, Rory Tynan. Subs used: Paddy Ennis, Niall Kelly, Shane Heraty, Ian Seery.

ACL Division 7
Ballinagore 1-05  Milltownpass 0-02
We picked up our second win of the weekend against Milltownpass in Division 7 last Sunday in snowy Ballinagore. Conditions were dreadful and credit to both teams for giving their all throughout. Great to see Stewart Gavin making his first competitive start in almost 18 months. It's been a little while longer for Michael Durkan but great to see him back also and he was very composed in goals while Tommy Kelly and Brendan Heeney impressed on their competitive debuts. Well done to all. We need to keep our numbers up at training each week now and continue to work on our fitness levels and skills. Keep up the good work. Team: Michael Durkan, David Slevin, Enda Claffey, Cormac Quinn, Brendan Heeney, Kieran Deegan, James Keegan, Ian Seery, James Durkan, Paddy Ennis, Enda Kenny, Declan Claffey, Martin Crowe, Stewart Gavin, Tommy Kelly.
