A.G.M.
Our AGM was held on Friday last in the clubhouse. Outgoing chairman Feichin Brennan welcomed all present as he introduced the agenda for the evening. First up were the minutes of the 2013 AGM which were read out by outgoing secretary Mary Bardon. The second item on the agenda was the secretary's report. Like previous years, Mary delivered a comprehensive detailed report on the clubs on field and off field activities. The All-Ireland feile win was hailed as the undoubted achievement on the field, while the success of the White Collar boxing fundraiser was highlighted as a marvellous achievement by all involved. Mary thanked all involved with the club in any way for their hard work during the year and hoped for more of the same in 2015. The passing of Club President, Michael Murtagh (RIP) was highlighted as a sad time for the club. The chairman complimented Mary on her report as did Eamon Orme. Eamon also highlighted the efforts of the boxing committee in making that night a great occasion and he also thanked the boxers from other GAA clubs in the county for their Trojan efforts. Alan O Mara also came in for a special mention from Eamon as he was the man who brought the idea to the club. Finally Eamon complimented the Feile team and their mentors for the joy and pride they had brought to the club with their exploits over the summer of 2014. The third item on the agenda was the Treasurer's report. Outgoing Treasurer, Chris McCarthy one again provided a detailed report to all present indicating the clubs financial dealings over the year. As money matters always generate discussion the aftermath of the report was no different, but things moved along swiftly none the less.
In his chairman's address, Feichin thanked all involved with the club during the year, from committee to players to mentors and indeed all who work behind the scenes. Special mention came in for all involved with the boxing fundraiser and to the lotto committee for their weekly work in what are still difficult financial times. He thanked all our sponsors during the year, especially Lakeland Taxis who provided a new set of adult jerseys in 2014. Finally a word of mention came in for the Crookedwood lads who have made the various county panels and wished them luck for the year. The chairman also showed his delight at the first phase of our grounds development (the lit walkway) being completed and that phase two will be a welcome development this year. We then moved on to the election of officers for 2015. The main changes in the elections were the appointments of Gerry Butler as Chairman and Ronan Scally as PRO, a full list of club officers can be viewed on the website in the coming weeks. Under the guise of any other business there were a number of things mentioned and discussed. Frank Brennan noted how local school Taughmon, won the Division 2 final, defeating Castletown Geo in said final. Underage amalgamations were also discussed and after a good debate it became clear as to our intentions for the year. An underage AGM was arranged for Thursday 5th February. Finally, votes of sympathy were expressed to all who suffered bereavement during the year.
