Christmas may not have come yet, but already the focus is on the O'Byrne Cup.
Westmeath midfielder John Heslin will miss their opener against Meath in the O'Byrne Cup on Sunday, January 4th.
Heslin and Jamie Gonoud will sit out the opener, but Westmeath manager Tom Cribbin stressed that he will be fielding a strong team against the Royal County.
"The O'Byrne Cup will be important for us; we have Meath at home, DCU in midweek and then travel to Longford to play our neighbours," Cribbin told the Westmeath Topic.
"It will be three useful competitive games and gives us a chance to put our game plan into action."
