Castledaly held their 2014 GAA Social & Awards Presentation night in Fitzgerald's Lounge last Saturday December 13th and a fantastically successful and enjoyable night was had by all.  The event was especially celebrated with the launch of our clubs history book - "Castledaly GAA - 75 Years History in the Community".  Compiled by club stalwarts Ciaran Henson and Kieran Galvin, the book contains much of the recorded history of Castledaly GAA, plus many many entertaining memories and tales. There are also a large number of photographs of players, teams, matches, supporters, and associated events.  All in all, it is a quality publication and a definite Christmas stocking filler, and we thank Kieran and Ciaran for their amazing work on the project, and everyone else involved who brought it to fruition. After chairman John Dolan opened proceedings on the night, he introduced one of the books authors, Kieran Galvin, who described the entertaining and difficult journey that brought the book into being. Kieran also had the honour of introducing the nights special guest speaker, John Maughan.  John proved himself to be a very popular guest, and entertained all in attendance with his memories of his career as Gaelic football manager and former player, his involvement with the Mayo, Clare, Roscommon and Fermanagh senior football teams, and the importance of the GAA historically and in present day.  We thank John and his lovely lady wife for their attendance.
Congratulations also to Darragh Kelly, whose performances on the pitch in a difficult year earned him the rightful honour of Castledaly GAA Senior Player of The Year 2014 - his award presented by special guest John Maughan.
Special thanks to Frank Fitzgerald for providing venue for proceedings, and all who helped make it a memorable night.  Go raibh mile maith agaibh.

The club offers its sincerest sympathies and condolences to family and friends of Mrs. Philomena MORAN (née Farrell) Bracca, Fardrum, Athlone, Westmeath, who passed away recently.  May she rest in peace.

Castledaly GAA would like to thank everyone who has been involved, supported and represented the Club in the year 2014 and wish you all a Merry and Peaceful Christmas Season, and a Happy New Year 2015.
