St Josephs GAA Notes

November 24, 2014

Under 14 Shield final:
Kilbeggan/St  Josephs Under 14's played Shandonagh at Rochfortbridge on Saturday 22nd November in the Under 14 Shield final for 2014. In a pulsating encounter our team was desperately unlucky to lose by a solitary point on a score of 3-06 to 3-05 in what was an excellent game. Both sides were very evenly matched but Kilbeggan/St Josephs had the better of the opening half and should have possibly built a better advantage. Indeed, the team as a unit looked the better side but Shandonagh had a couple of players who were physically stronger than any of our team and it told in the end as they edged the result. The Under 14's have shown great promise throughout the year and have been successful with victory coming in the league earlier this year. It was hard luck on them last Saturday but they will win plenty in the coming years of that I have no doubt.
Lotto €5700:
Our most recent Lotto draw was held on Monday 17th November in The Beech Tree for a Jackpot of €5600. The numbers drawn were 1,14,21 and 25 and there was no Jackpot winner. There was just one match three winner of €100 and that was Hannah Martin C/O Paddy Martin, Ballymore so well done to Hannah. The next draw is on Sunday 30th November in Ryans at 9-00pm.

Scór na nÓg:
St Josephs take part in the County semi final of Scór na nÓg on Saturday 29th November in Ballymore. The club has a couple of acts participating but there is still opportunity for competitors to come forward. The county quiz final is on Saturday 6th December in Delvin. Those of us involved with Scór were saddened to hear of the death of Joe Longworth, Killare who sadly passed away last week. Joe was a feature of all rounds of Scór for many years and he often travelled with St Josephs to different parts of the country to support Scór. We offer our sympathy to his wife Rose, son Joe, daughter Aine and his relatives and friends. Ar dheis de go raibh a anim.
Well Done Moate:
Well done to Moate All Whites who qualified for the Leinster club football championship by virtue of their semi final win last weekend. Its good to see the county champions from the Junior grade doing so well and we wish them all the best in the final:
