U 14 Championship
Garrycastle 2-17
Killucan 3-11

Our U14s beat Killucan in a very exciting and tough encounter last Thursday evening in Garrycastle. The win ensures that they have qualified for the county semi final with two games still to play in the league championship format.
With Jason Nugent captaining the side in the absence of Eoin Mulvihill who was injured the lads were quick out of the blocks with early points from Jason,Joe Carmody,Brian Ruane and Feargal Mullin before an excellent goal by Ian Carroll left the score after 20 minutes 1-07 to 0-04. The physically strong Killucan side rallied to add 1-02 before the break to leave the HT score 1-10 to 1-06.
The second half was a fiery affair with each side matching each other score for score with the Garrycastle goal coming from Owen Keogh. A breakaway goal with 5 minutes remaining brought Killucan level and they looked to have the momentum to go on and win however great team work over the closing minutes and some excellent running at the Kllucan defence from Joe Carmody,Brian,Ruane,Jason Nugent and Dara Mulvihill in particular ensured that we scored 3 points without reply to win the game.
Apart from those mentioned allready their were good performances from Patrick McKiernan,Daragh Kenna,Andrew Monaghan and Robert O Brien.

This challenge is over bog, farm, forest, slides and water feature obstacles and is suitable for people of all abilities. This can be a great team building exercise and we're inviting groups and clubs to take part to win plenty of prizes. The course was really well received last year as many families took part and had a great day out. The course is been changed to include even more fun challenges. Tickets are €20 on the day but pre entry tickets are on sale for €15 from Dan's Tavern, The Bounty, Java Jo's, Coosan Cottages and Athlone Equestrian Centre and club members. Children under 18 years of age must have permission from a guardian. Children cost €5 and a family ticket is €40. Big shout out to those who have been working tirelessly on the course and particularly those taking parts in the trial runs.
