JFC SEMI FINAL
We are back in our first adult final since 1997 when we last lifted the Flanagan Cup thanks to what was, at times,an exhilarating display of quick open flowing football in a style that we were known for in our glory years. From the moment John Corbally cracked a left footed shot to the roof of the net with just 5 minutes gone there was little doubt that there was only going to be one winner on what was a perfect day for football on a well presented Shandonagh pitch. There were big performances all over with the two Dans,Buckley and Bracken, outstanding in the full back line,Rob Gorman assured at no 6,Ruairi Cunningham powering through the middle time and time again, our half forward line of David Minnock,Gareth Murray and Jamie Madden terrorising St Pauls all afternoon, and the unstoppable John Corbally well assisted inside by the experienced Nigel Adamson. But the truth is that this was a real team effort and both players and mentors can take great credit and indeed encouragment for the final against Multyfarnham in two weeks time. This will be the ultimate test and another couple of gears will have to be found but there is every reason to be cautiously optimistic that we can take the first step back to the summit of Westmeath football in a fortnight. Final Score MAW 2-22 St Pauls 3-6 Team D McCardle, D Bracken, D Buckley, A Claffey, B Arigho, R Gorman,Gavin Murray, E Dalton 0-2 2f, R Cunningham 0-3 1 45, J Madden 0-3, Gareth Murray 0-3, D Minnock 0-1, D Adamson 0-1, N Adamson 1-3, J Corbally 1-5 2f,B Berry 0-1, J Linnane, C Bracken, K O Brien, S Byrne

U12
On Wednesday evening last our U12s played the Downs in the final game
of the 13 a side go games. Moate proved to be the stronger team
through out the game and at half time went in leading by 8 pts. In the
second half the Downs came more into the game and really started to
put their stamp on the game. However Moate came back into the game
with ten minutes remaining and went on to win by 10 pts.
On Friday the U12s also played Killbeggan/St Josephs in the 2nd round of the
Garrycastle tournament in Steamstown. This was a wet miserable evening
for football. The game was very close throughout with neither team
letting the weather get in the way of their determination. The game
finished on a scoreline of Moate 6-07 Kilbeggan/St Josephs 3-07. This now gives
Moate 2 wins out of 2. Well done lads.

U14
Our U14 played St Marys Rochfortbridge on Sat in the Semi final of the
Div4 championship. We started the stronger with Nicky Hamm bursting up
through the middle from the throw in and scoring a goal. St Marys then
came back down the field to score a point. The rest of the first half
was a constant game of end to end football with the St Marys going in
leading by 3-04 to 2-02 at half time. The second half was as lively as
the first with neither side giving up. As the half wore on
Rochfortbridge held onto their lead and as much as our lads tried they
couldnt break them down. Full time score Moate 4-05 Rochfortbridge
7-05
