Flynn seeks improvement

September 17, 2014

Mullingar Shamrocks manager Bernard Flynn believes that they will have to show a dramatic improvement on their current form if they are to beat current champions St Loman's in the County SFC semi final.

The Springfield based outfit caused something of a surprise by knocking out one of the favourites for the title, Tyrrellspass after a quarterfinal replay last week.

Shamrocks have struggled throughout the campaign, but the performance in the replay against Tyrrellspass will have given them a massive confidence boost.

However, Flynn stressed to the Westmeath Examiner that a further improvement is needed if they are to beat their town rivals.

"On that performance (Tyrrellspass), we'll have to improve 50 or 60 per cent at least. That's the challenge for us now, and for me as a manager. Losing is no good," said Flynn.

"We don't want to lose against St Loman's. They are red hot favourites, the best team in the county, and rightly so at the moment, but we'll plan meticulously and see what happens, I'm looking forward to it."
