Crookedwood GAA club notes

September 15, 2014

Senior Championship

It was honours even after the sixty plus minutes on Sunday evening last as both teams garnered a score of 1-14 apiece. Delvin had the better of the exchanges in the first half and led by 0-10 to 0-4 at halftime. Indeed Delvin pulled further ahead on the change of ends with the next two points of the game. The lads responded well and scored a few points before our opponents from The Valley scored an opportunist goal. However, the lads never threw in the towel and the hard work was rewarded when Ger Brennan crashed the ball to the Delvin net. In the final few minutes we fell two points behind again but we struck back with two points ourselves to level the game with the final puck of the ball. Although the end result meant little in terms of final placing's as we have to play Delvin again in the relegation playoff in the near future, an improved performance and halting a run of six defeats is a timely boost as we strive to maintain our senior status.
