Westmeath Camogie notes

September 15, 2014

Westmeath Examiner Senior Championship.
The senior final is fixed for next Saturday 20th September at 2:30pm in Cusack Park. Once again Lough Lene Gaels will play Raharney for the Matrix Cup. Raharney are the 2013 champions and will defend their title while Lough Lene Gaels will seek to regain the title. We would encourage supporters not alone from the clubs involved but from across the county to come to the county final.

Junior Championship Semi-final.
In the second semi-final of the Junior championship Clonkill played Drumraney in Castletown Geoghegan and on the evening Clonkill won the game to progress to the Junior County Final. The camogie board wishes to thank Castletown Geoghegan hurling club for the facilities.

Junior Championship Final.
The final of the Junior championship will be played in Cusack park next Saturday in advance of the Senior final. Clonkill will play St. Brigid's for the Junior Cup at 1pm. We are looking forward to a great conclusion to our championship on Saturday.

Under 16 'A' Championship Final
The Under 16 'A' final was contested between Lough Lene Gaels and Crookedwood last Friday evening in Clonkill. In this very enjoyable game Lough Lene Gaels were awarded the Under 16 'A' shield as they defeated Crookedwood in a closely contested final. Congratulations to Lough Lene Gaels and many thanks to Clonkill Hurling club once again for use of their facilities and to Hilda Keogh who refereed the final.

Under 14 Blitz Champions
The county Under 14 development squad travelled to the annual blitz in Dublin on Saturday last in advance of the All-Ireland Camogie finals on Sunday. Once again the Westmeath team won their division in the competition. The squad then led out the parade in Croke Park on Sunday at half time in the All-Ireland Senior Final. So well done to the players and mentors - it was a long weekend but a good one.
