Westmeath Camogie notes

Westmeath Examiner Senior Championship.
Following conclusion of the rounds of the championship the quarter and semi-final places have been decided and the quarter finals will be playing this Wednesday 27th August. Castletown Geoghegan v St Munnas and Cullion v Crookedwood will be played. The venue to be announced  - clubs will be informed of the details.  Semi finals are fixed for 6th September and the final for the weekend of 20 / 21st September.

Junior Championship.
The draw has been made for the Junior Quarter and Semi Finals. One Quarter final will be played between Clonkill and Brownstown this Wednesday 27th August. The winners of this game will play Drumraney in a semi-final. St. Brigid's and Delvin will compete in the other semi-final.  Semi-finals are fixed for 6th September.

Under 14 Championship
The Premier Under 14 final will be played on 27th August and will be competed by Raharney and Clonkill. This promises to be a great game and we would encourage supporters from both clubs and supporters of camogie across the county to come to see the game.

Leinster Minor Championship
The County Minor team will play the second round of the Leinster championship next Sunday 31st August.

U12 Mini-League
A number of Under 12 semi-final games were played during the past week. The finals are fixed for this Saturday 30th August.

U8/10 Blitz.
The camogie board is planning to organise the final blitz in Cusack Park or two evenings. The dates for the two evenings are next Monday and Tuesday 1st and 2nd September (To be confirmed).

Player of the Decade
All clubs are asked to submit a nomination for the Westmeath County player of the decade as soon as possible as they need to be sent in to Croke Park. Remember, you cannot nominate a player from your own club but from another club. This award is part of the 110th year celebrations for the Camogie Association.
The County Player of the Decade refers to playing seasons in the period 2005-2014 inclusive.
Criteria for County Player of the Decade:
Role model/sportsmanship (club/county) 30%;
Playing excellence at county level 30%;
Longevity of playing career (club/county) 20%;
Dedication/commitment to county 20%.

Pitch and Putt
Many thanks to those who supported the Pitch and Putt fundraiser last Saturday. There will no doubt be some additional fundraising needed before the end of year.
