Fe 12 Football League Castledaly 15-15 St. Paul's 1-08

On Wednesday last Castledaly U12s welcomed an understrength St Pauls to St Kieran's Park and won through in spectacular style. In an entertaining and competitive game with a great display from all the team, huge thanks to both sets of mentors parents and team for their contribution and support, and to all from St. Paul's for their sportsmanship.

Castledaly provided a great team effort, but in particular Cathal Fitzmaurice was on form in front of goal, securing ten of the goals for his team.

Squad = Adam Kelly, Dylan McManus, David Dolan, Adam Grennan, Caoimhe McDonnell, Adam Ryan, Liam Farrell, David Joyce, Christopher Daly, Christopher Kerrigan, Cathal Fitzmaurice, Ciara Nugent, Orla McDonnell, Joe Joyce, Anna Sheerin.

Senior B - Castledaly 07 Athlone 4-14

Despite the iconic Ciaran Henson achieving his first score in 20 years of competitive football this Castledaly performance failed to impress and Athlone did not have to reach high gear to secure their win.

With points from Niall O'Neill, David Stone, and MJ Kelly, Castledaly struggled to create chances in first half and those created were not turned into scores. In contract Athlone seemed to create chances at will, and took their scores well.

In the second half the team seemed more effective, with strong performances from Adrian Kelly, Ciaran Henson, Niall O'Neill, Eamon Fleming, David Stone, MJ Kelly, Aaron Sheerin, Brendan Fitzgerald, but attempts to add goals to their tally could perhaps be better utilised with points on the board as damage limitation and pride would have been the priority.

While Castledaly players could not be faulted for energy and effort, the team will need to work on concentration, focus and execution if they wish to progress this season. With a squad of young players complimented by more experienced veterans, this team have been a work in progress this year but expectations and potential need delivery asap. Team- Eanna Duffy, Shane Dolan, Brendan Fitzgerald, Paul Henson, Ciaran Henson, Adrian Kelly, Darragh Kelly, Eamon Fleming, Aaron Sheerin, MJ Kelly, Niall O'Neill, David Stone, Neil Young, Paul Costello, Rob Finnerty.. Subs used Patrick Costello for Paul Costello, Chris Claffey for Rob Finnerty, James Galvin for Neil Young, Shane Fitzpatrick for Paul Henson.
