Championship vs. The Downs
On Sunday evening last we took on The Downs in our third championship outing of the year. We got off to a great start with points from Tom Browne and Enda Kincaid within the first minute. We then went nearly 30 minutes before our next score from Christy Grimes. Between our scores the Downes scored 5 to put them in the lead. Maryland were unlucky not to get a goal after a powerful run from Kieran Martin from midfield had his shot stopped. Another point from Tom Browne brought the score to 6 - 4 at half time. We brought on Joe Harte at half time and he had an instant impact when he recieved the ball from another strong run from Kieran and Joe finished neatly to net under pressure. This however did not have the impact as we had hoped as we only scored twice more in the second half through John Reilly and Kieran Martin. Overall this was a dis​sapointing outing where we never really got up to full speed.
