St. Loman's have no intention of relinquishing their hold on the Flanagan Cup if last night's drubbing of Mullingar Shamrocks is anything to go by.

Declan Rowley's champions dished out a 2-12 to 0-4 defeat to their local rivals with Shane Dempsey and David Windsor accounting for the goals. The manner of the loss will make it very difficult for Shamrocks manager Bernard Flynn to resurrect his side's championship challenge.

In the other games in Section A, The Downs finished strongly to beat Maryland by 1-12 to 1-6, while former county hurler Paul Greville's late free handed Killucan a 1-6 to 0-8 victory over fellow relegation candidates Castledaly.

Last year's intermediate champions St. Malachy's are on course for a place in the semi-finals after making it three wins from three in Section B. Peter Leahy's charges came from 1-4 to 2-4 down at half-time to beat Athlone by 2-13 to 2-6.

Coralstown/Kinnegad also maintained their good start when Ronan Foley's goal in first half injury-time propelled them to a 1-9 to 0-6 win over Bunbrosna. Tyrrellspass are also looking good for the knockout stages after seeing off old rivals Garrycastle on a 1-12 to 1-8 scoreline.

With just one win from three games, the 2012 All-Ireland club finalists are staring at an early exit.
