Senior Hurling Championship
Lough Lene Gaels pushed county champions Castletown-Geoghegan all the way on Wednesday evening last, but ultimately lost out by five points in the club's latest Slevin's Coaches SHC tie.
After a thrilling first half, Castletown led 1-7 to 1-5. The Gaels found themselves 1-4 to 0-1 down by the eighth minute, but battled back into contention courtesy of a goal from Derek McNicholas, and points from Dan Carty (frees) and Fergal Moran.
John Egan brought us within a point of parity after the restart, and despite further scores from Carty and Stephen Bardon, Castletown did enough to get themselves over the line. Final score: Lough Lene Gaels 1-10, Castletown-Geoghegan 1-15.
