Moate All Whites club notes

July 21, 2014
Junior Championship
MAW 2-13 St Pauls 3-7
Yet another game that should have been put to bed long before the end. That said we started very slowly and allowed our opponents to build a 1-4 to 0-2 lead before we woke up and then went on to play some excellent ball to go 2-10 to 1-4 up half way through the second half only to cough up two soft goals which gave Pauls heart and left the result in doubt up to the final whistle. We saw enough in this game to be positive about the rest of the year with strong performances from Alex Ryan in goal,Colin Bracken tigerish as ever in defence,Ruairi Cunningham who did well around the middle,Gareth Murray who put in a great shift until injured and Cian Bradley who showed well and was clinical in front of goal.Team;A Ryan,C Bracken,D Buckley,A Claffey,D Bracken,C Kelly,R Gorman,E Dalton,R Cunningham,D Adamson,G Murray,J Corbally,N Adamson,C Bradley,J Madden,D Claffey,K O Brien,C Costello.

U8s go to Croker
On Monday morning last our Under 8 team headed for Dublin to play Tinryland of Carlow in the annual go games blitz in Croke Park. The Bus left the community hall at 8.15 am and arrived in Dublin at 10.00am. There was 21 players on the bus and each one of them was full of the joys for playing in Headquarters. Having reached the stands they all togged out and got themselves ready, they then went and had a tour of the dressings rooms and warm-up areas underneath the Cusack stand. When the tour was completed they had their photo taken at the top of the tunnel and then it was time to play the match. The match was played in a very good sporting manner with Moate winning most of the possession in both areas of the field and picking off some lovely fine scores. When the referee blew the whistle for full time the score was Moate 17pts Tinryland 9 pts. The children were then brought over to
the Hogan stand and were presented with and had their photos taken with the Delaney cup. We then headed for home and arrived back in Moate at 3.30. Well done to all the players who did their club proud.
