Senior Championship CastledalyGAA 2-08 St. Loman's 2-15
A tactical defensive reshuffle allowed Castledaly to hold St. Loman's versatile forward lines to a half time trailing score of 03 to 06. Lorcan Dolan pointed a free kick won by Paul Kelly in first minute, and Dolan and Fergal Hynes added points just before halftime. Castledaly defended stoutly with Adrian Kelly getting supporters on their feet with well executed shoulder tackle, while Liam Fitzpatrick Derek Heavin Enda Kelly dispossessed the opposition on several occasions. Paddy Golden in goals made his presence felt time and again, keeping shots offtarget.
In second half MJ Kelly tapped over an opportunistic point from play before Castledaly saw their defence struggle as St. Loman's 1-05 went unanswered. Brendan Kelly's point from play was extinguished by a further Loman's 4point tally. Things looked looked ominous for Castledaly but Paddy Golden's full stretch save heroics sparked a revival, with Paul Kelly and Lorcan Dolan bravely adding goals either side of a well taken Fergal Hynes point. Another goal was ruled out as referee called back play, and Brendan Kelly had to settle for a point from free kick. Brendan added a final score from play, capping a 9point unanswered flurry that reduced the deficit to 4points. However it was too little too late and a last second goal by Loman's flattered their winning margin. Castledaly had many bright points throughout this game, but Loman's remain the team to best on this competition.
