Crookedwood GAA club notes

July 21, 2014
Senior Championship

We had two games in the championship recently. In the first one against St.Oliver Plunketts we were comprehensively beaten by a hungrier team. We trailed by 12 points at half time even though we had 50% of the possession and our failure to put scores on the board when we were on top cost us dearly. An early Plunketts goal at the start of the second half left us with too much to do. Less than 48 hours later with not much time for players to recover we took on Castlepollard in round three. Even though we the lads put in a much improved performance our opponents took the two points on offer with a four point victory. Again, failure to take our scores, in the first half especially cost us dearly as this was a game where victory was well within our grasp. On the plus side the lads showed great character when we were nine points down to get within three of Pollard with a few minutes left, unfortunately we couldn't manufacture the third goal that may have got us something out of the game. We have a break now until the first weekend in August.

Speedy Recovery

The club wishes Kevin Orme all the best as he recovers from a hand injury, we hope to see him back in action soon.
