Junior Football Championship(Round 5)
St Josephs 1-06 Multyfarnham 0-17
1-06 seems to be our favourite scoreline this year as for the third time in five championship games we manged that exact score in a loss to Multyfarnham at thundery Milltown on Saturday 19th July. Once again, this was a game where we battled hard at all times but we needed goals to stay in contention against a Multyfarnham side that has improved vastly in recent years. St Josephs are at a crossroads at adult level at the moment and realistically we are currently close to the bottom of the rankings at Junior level. But despite that we are not an awful distance behind the top teams in the grade and better days lie ahead. However patience is required and it will be a couple of seasons before we again become genuine championship contenders, that day will come but not just yet. The game in Milltown was evenly contested in the early stages as both sides swapped points inside the opening two minutes with Niall Moran opening St Josephs account with a free. Multyfarnham soon moved ahead with two quick points and by the mid point of the opening half they had moved into a 0-7 to 0-1 lead. St Josephs got the only goal in the game in the 17th minute when Andy Scally finished off a good move to get us back into contention. Indeed, we had the better of the rest of the half and despite a couple of scares at the back and a fine save by James Kenny we registered two further points to trail by 1-3 to 0-10 at half time. The opening minutes of the second half were again evenly contested similar to the opening half as both sides swapped scores to leave a four point margin with five minutes elapsed. Multyfarnham gradually got the upper hand and effectively won the game in the period from the 11th to the 19th minutes when they scored six successive points as they built a 0-17 to 1-4 lead. St Josephs though don't give up and points from Niall Moran and Don Scally along with a couple of narrow and unlucky misses for goals in the final period meant that eight points separated the teams at the finish. Not the result we wanted but we just have to plough ahead and prepare for our next game against Delvin on Sunday 27th July in Shandonagh at 12 noon.

Lotto €4800:
Our most recent Lotto draw was on Monday 14th July in Ryans for a Jackpot of €4700. The numbers drawn were 1,15,17 and 21 and there was just one match three winner of €100 that being Joe Towey from Mullingar Co Westmeath. The Jackpot has been building nicely so do try your luck for the next draw and the prize would make a nice lump sum for some lucky punter. Tickets as always are on sale in Ryans, The Beech Tree and Streamstown Post Office. Next draw is in The Beech Tree on Sunday 27th July at 9-00pm.
