Bal Ladies retain their Intermediate status with the win against the Downs
Intermediate Championship Ballycomoyle 2-6 v The Downs 1-7 Castlepollard Community College
Celebrating promotion into the Intermediate ranks can be short lived when you realise that this is a status that can be snatched away again. This was the prospect facing Bal Ladies on Tuesday night when they hit the field to face the Downs. It was not a final but in everyone's mind it carried a greater prize, on winning they retained their intermediate status, a loss would carry with it demotion.
What followed was a game of persistence and resilience, with Ballycomoyle Ladies just fighting for every single inch of advantage on the field of play. They also battled the elements, including a dramatic drop in temperature and a strong wind to play into in the second half. Coach Enda Sherian has been focussing on building physical fitness and confidence in the panel and increases in both really paid dividends
