Ballinagore GAA Notes
July 21, 2014
Fixtures
We are fixed to play two championship matches this week. On Wednesday evening at 7.30pm we take on Kilbeggan Shamrocks in the final group game of the Junior B Championship. On Sunday next at 1.30pm in Rochfortbridge we play Ballymore in the third round of the Intermediate Championship.
Intermediate Football Championship
We took on Castletown/Finea/Coole/Whitehall in the second round of the championship last Friday evening in Cusack Park. After a lightning start by our opponents we found ourselves four points down after ten minutes. Being eight points adrift at one point we battled back to a deficit of four having missed two goal opportunities and several point-scoring chances. The second half began exactly as the first with Castletown/Finea/Coole/Whitehall extending their lead to eight points once more and effectively ending our challenge. They ran out convincing winners in the end and we must now re-focus on the challenge of Ballymore next Sunday in Rochfortbridge. Team: Cathal Daly, Robert Gannon, Martin Linnane, Kieran Deegan, Paul Maloney, Dan Gavin, James Sheerin, Frankie Deegan, Michael Ennis, Ciaran Carey, Rory Tynan (Capt), Cathal Ennis, Brandon Carey, Ian Seery, Tommy McDaniel. Subs Used: Niall Kelly, Paddy Doody, Paddy Ennis, David Slevin, Cathal Tynan, Declan Claffey. Rest of Panel: Willie Gavin, Michael Gannon, Pierce Corcoran, Stewart Gavin.
Next Fundraiser - Ballinagore GAA Plop Drop
Our next fundraiser is fixed for 30th August in the Bodhrán Bar. Tickets will be distributed soon to players, members & supporters. 625 tickets will go out, each representing a square on our field. Tickets will be in books of 10 and will cost just €5 each. We hope everyone can sell a book or as much of a book as possible. Before the evening a cow will be let loose on our pitch and whichever square she favours, the winning ticketholder will get a grand prize of €500. There will also be runners up prizes for surrounding squares (and if anyone can acquire sponsors prizes for these please let us know). On the evening of the 30th we will have the squares & owners on display and footage of the crucial 'drop'. Music and barbeque will be provided also. One for the diaries before we say goodbye to the Summer!
