Kilbeggan Shamrocks GAA Notes

JFC v Ballycomoyle

We stuttered to a 2-11 to 1-7 victory over Ballycomoyle in the second round of the JFC on Bank Holiday Monday last at Springfield.

Goals in either half from James Finnegan and Emmett Dalton ensured us of a second straight win, but it goes without saying that a big improvement will be required for our next outing against high-flying Moate.

We held a slender 1-4 to 1-5 lead after playing against the wind in the first half, and extended our advantage to four points within 40 seconds of the restart when Dalton raised his third green flag in two games. But it was only after Ballycomoyle were reduced to 14 men with five minutes to go that we finally put the result beyond doubt.

Team: Mike Tormey; James Claffey, David Marshall, Tadhg O'Gorman; James Fox, Shaun Pidgeon, Warren Maher; Jason O'Neill, Paddy Barry; James Brennan (0-1), Paul Maloney (0-1), Emmett Dalton (1-0); Paul Fennell (0-5), Fergal Fox (0-1), James Finnegan (1-2). Sub used: Simon O'Neill (0-1).
