St Lomans Mullingar GAA Notes

April 22, 2014
Division 1
St Lomans Mullingar 0.17 Tyrrellspass 0.09
Tyrrellspass visited Lakepoint Park on Sunday last for the fourth round of the league in a repeat of last year's county final.

Kelvin Reilly opened the scoring for St Lomans and he soon turned provider for a point from Conradh Reilly. Martin Flanagan and David Gaye responded with points to level the scores but the visitors certainly would have been a goal in front only to be denied by a wonderful save from St Lomans goalkeeper James Mc Kenna. The blues had the better of the second quarter and had a five point lead at the break thanks to points from John Heslin(4) and debutant Ken Casey. Tyrrellspass were reduced to fourteen men on the twenty minute mark and while this didn't have an immediate impact the extra man for St Lomans proved to be pivotal in the second half.
Paddy Dowdall opened the scoring in the second half with a fine solo point. St Lomans goalkeeper James Mc Kenna was the hero once again as he saved a penalty from Tyrrellspass centre forward David Gaye. The away side reduced the margin with three unanswered points all coming from Martin Flanagan's converted frees. Both sides exchanged a point each with David Windsor scoring for the blues after great link up play with Ken Casey. St Lomans began to dominate midfield in the final quarter and points from man of the match John Heslin(2), Conor Cochrane(2), Shane Dempsey(2) and Cormac Corroon ensured a comfortable finish to the game that saw St Lomans eight point winners.

U12 League
The U12 boys played their first league game of the year on Saturday last in sunny Springfield against neighbours Mullingar Shamrocks. St Lomans fielded two teams of 11 a side and despite been without five regulars due to the bank holiday weekend they played very well with one game ending in a draw and the other a four point defeat. Special mention to Evan Johnson who played very well at midfield despite not having played for two years. Well done to all the lads that togged out and we look forward to seeing them all at training next Saturday 26th at 3pm. This group also play Granard U12's in St Lomans on Sunday 27th at 6pm.

There was no jackpot winner from the lotto draw on April 16th. The numbers drawn were 6,7,16,21. Winners of €50 each were Paul Martin, Kelvin Reilly, Tosh Keena and Sean Quinn. Next week's jackpot will be €4,500.
