Fr Daltons Hurling club notes

Fr. Daltons met with Ringtown last Sunday, March 30th, in Ballymore for the first round of the Division 3 Hurling League. From the onset it was evident that this was going to be a hard fought match by both teams. Ringtown were first to score from a pointed free. Fr.Daltons soon levelled matters when Sean Egan was pulled down inside the 21 yard line and a free was given, Danny Maloney pointed. Michael Maloney added another point from play 70 yards out. Ringtown then scored 1-2 to make it 1-3 to 0-2 after 10 minutes of play. Despite the early goal, Fr.Daltons started to take their points. Fr.Daltons added 4 more points before half time. Brian Finerty came on for an injured Jamie Kilmurray 5 minutes before the break. Half-time score, Ringtown 1-6 to Fr.Daltons 0-6.

The foundations were laid for victory when Fr.Daltons scored 2-2 within 5 minutes of the re-start. Fr.Daltons then had 2-8 to Ringtown's 1-6.Ringtown then managed to pull a goal back from play. Daltons were eager and determined to kick on, scoring 6 points,5 from play and a pointed free from Danny Maloney. Fr.Daltons led by 2-14 to 2-7 going into the last 10 minutes of the match. With legs beginning to tire a little bit ,Ringtown made a spirited comeback, scoring 1-3 ,to bring them back within 1 point. It was a nerve - wrecking last few minutes with tempers beginning to fray but then Brian Finerty struck the ball over the bar to secure a victory for Fr.Daltons! Fr.Daltons ran out winners by 2 points. A very hard fought win by Fr.Daltons over a strong Ringtown team. Each Daltons player showed passion and determination and deserved their win. Final score Fr.Daltons 2-15 to Ringtown's 3-10.

Next match
Fr Dalton's are away again this coming Saturday 12th April in a Division 3 fixture against Brownstown at 6pm.

Training
All players are expected to attend training this Thursday without exception.

Membership
Club Membership now due. Please pay Mike Maloney as soon as possible. €30 for adults / €15 for students.

Lotto
The Lotto draw takes place every Friday evening. Tickets are on sale from all players and officials of both clubs and are also available from the local publicans and Rooney's Day break. Next Fridays draw 11th April will take place in Cassells. Results are available online at www.frdaltons.ie or in local venues. Both clubs would like thank you for your continuing support.
