Westmeath Centre of Excellence mooted again

Westmeath GAA Centre of Excellence in the pipeline.

Westmeath chairman Billy Foley has informed delegates that a Centre of Excellence for the county’s hurling and football teams is still very much in the pipeline.

Speaking at last week’s county board meeting, the Brownstown clubman stated that the executive were ‘very, very near to finalising definite plans for a centre of excellence’.

Foley added that clubs would not be levied in order to pay for the development, but stressed that they would have to do more to support the Club Iarmhi draw.

It is still unclear where the centre of excellence would be developed if the plans reach that stage, but one thing is for certain, it will be greatly received in the county.
