St. Malachys - The Story So Far

We recently launched our DVD which was expertly put together over the past five years by Olly Gallagher and includes several interviews with past and present members, Scor participants from down the years, the entire 1981 SFC win and the 1991 Under 12 final win over Rosemount as well as much more. Supporters Club
Congratulations to Joe Glennon, on winning our Supporters Club Draw for the month of November. Thanks to Joe and all the members of our Supporters Club for their continued support of our club. Anyone wishing to join our Supporters Club which started way back in March 2010 can contact any committee member for details also if anyone requires a club car sticker please let us know. 

 

AGM 

On Sunday last we held our AGM in the clubhouse. With a large crowd and some new faces in attendance we looked over the year past and looked forward to the year ahead. What can only be described as an eventful year was reviewed, thanked and congratulated to all involved on their achievements. Although on the playing field we didn’t make much progress, our club grew and expanded in areas such as park development and our fundraising endeavours. Sunday seen the end of our current chairman’s reign. We said goodbye to Ciaran Glennon who has been a fantastic chairman, clubman and example to all of our members young and old. No matter what was asked of Ciaran he did it over the past two years as chairman and previous years as PRO. In his place, Mick Fagan takes over as chairman. Mick is an outstanding clubman and has always given 100% to Malachys over the years from juvenile chairman to coaching all levels from under 8’s to minors this year. We have no doubt Mick will do a superb job in his new role. Tommy Lynch continues his role as Vice-Chairman. Club secretary Ciaran Kirby and his assistant, Damien Grennan remained the same, while Tom Mullarkey and Frank Kiernan held their roles as Treasurer and assistant treasurer respectively. Sinead Kiernan continues as PRO. Other new roles included David Lynch and Conor Kane as player reps and membership officers, while Paul O’Neill has joined our Youth Officers James Masterson and Barry Whelan. Ciaran Glennon joins Ethel Wallace as Wellbeing officers and Dermot Garvin joins Pat Garvin and Johnny Carey as Co. Convention delegates. Thanks to all who came, from players, to supporters, to underage coaches to our former committee members. As always, it’s the people who make a club and from Sunday’s meeting, here’s hoping 2020 will be a bright, joyful year for St. Malachys.

Sympathies. 

The club extends our deepest sympathies to the Corbett Family, Dysart on the death of Maureen Corbett. Maureen’s grandson Andrew plays on our intermediate team and son Pat is a great supporter of the club. May she rest in peace. 

 

County Players

Congratulations to David Lynch with the county footballers and Johnny Bermingham, Shane Clavin and Liam Varley with the county hurlers who represented us over the weekend. Fair play lads.
