St. Lomans Club Notes

Clarke’s Bar Junior Championship:
St Loman’s Mullingar 2-13 Mullingar Shamrocks 0-08
Last Friday night saw St. Loman’s chalk up their 3rd successive win in this years’ Junior
championship. Adam Carroll chose to play against a very tricky wind in the first half, and both sides
found accuracy a problem. After 30 minutes of tit-for-tat football, the score at halftime was 1-4 to 0-
6 in favour of the Saints, thanks to 2 excellent points from Conan O’Hara, a goal from the prolific
Rory Sheahan and 2 frees from Garrett Hickey.
After a stern halftime team talk from manager Adrian Charles, the resumption of the 2nd half saw St.
Loman’s totally up-their-game and they reeled off 5 unanswered points to extend their lead to 6
points. Frank Kavanagh and Kevin Regan were totally dominating the midfield area, James Cox was
causing problems to the Shamrocks defence and bagged himself 1-3, whilst O’Hara matched his 1st
half brace with another 2 excellent points from play. As expected in a local derby, the opposition
never quit, however the entire Loman’s rear-guard constrained them to only 2 more points, and
when the final whistle blew St. Loman’s had won by 11 points.
Overall the Management were happy (especially with the 2nd half performance), however the 1st
half was very disjointed and improvements will certainly need to be made prior to their next outing
against Shandonagh.

Under 16 Boys:
Well done to St Loman’s Under 16 boys, who booked their place in this year’s championship semi
with a two point win over Shandonagh in Lakepoint Park on Friday evening.
The game was close all the way, helped by a swirling wind. The blues lead by two at half time and
maintained that lead to the end despite playing into the wind. There were good performances all
over the field, well done lads.
Also, for the second time in a week St Loman’s under 16 boys took on Lilliput Gaels. On this occasion,
in Ballinagore for their championship playoff game.
The Blues started well similar to last Tuesday and got into an early lead which they held to the final
whistle. There were man of the match performances all over the field, particularly in defence where
time and time again the ball was turned over or blocked.
The lads also scored 4-14 in a very positive display, well done to all 25 players that togged out.

Under 8 Girls:
Our U8 girls were in Clonmellon on Saturday morning for the latest round of blitzes. Well done to all
of the girls – you all put in a terrific performance.
Our thanks to hosts St Pauls-Delvin for ensuring the girls had a hugely enjoyable morning
