Children attending their club's weekly coaching session last evening got a lovely surprise when a club member organised an ice-cream van as a treat for their efforts so far this year.

Former Westmeath full back Brendan Nannery has been praised by parents of the young Kilbeggan Shamrocks footballers for his generous gesture. Brendan runs the local gym, The Fit Factory, and is a key player for the Shamrocks who face local rivals St Malachy's in the first round of the Westmeath IFC at TEG Cusack Park this evening.
