'Dobsey' steps away from Athlone

April 17, 2019

Athlone were forced to appoint a new management team recently after their manager David ‘Dobsey’ Prendergast stepped down.

The former Athlone and Westmeath footballer had taken charge of his native club’s senior team for the first time earlier in the year.

However, a run of bad results in the league are alleged to be behind Prendergast’s reason for stepping down from the role.

The club have acted quickly to replace ‘Dobsey’ with Emmett Collins, former Dublin footballer Darren Magee, John Egan and James Kilroy stepping into the breach.
