Our 2019 Registration will take place on Saturday 23rd February from 12-1.30pm in our Clubhouse at Páirc Chiaráin, Ballymahon Road. All players/members must register online at www.athlone.gaa.ie even if paying by cash on registration days. There will be a free prize draw for everyone who registers on or before the 23rd of February. Westmeath U14 Development Squad
The club continued to host the county u14 development squad on Saturday last in Páirc Chiaráin. Well done to Cian Mitchell, Dano McMonagle, Luke Nicholson, Owen McNamara, Johnny Martin and Luke O’Connell who were representing Athlone GAA club this week.
U13 Leinster Cross County League
Athlone GAA 3-13 - Ferbane/Belmont 2-11
Our u13s had their second outing in the u13 Leinster Cross County League on Thursday 14th February last. The lads came out on top after a very tight game with great skill showed by both sets of teams. That’s two wins from two in this competition and up next up for the lads are Granard away on the 23rd of February (subject to change). Team: Ben Manning, Darragh Lough, Conor Hughes, Cathal Hardiman, Luke Nicholson, Ruairi O’Duibhir, Brandon Varszegi, Tiernan Mitchell, Jeffrey Idahosa, Shane Wheatley, Adam Casey, Cillian McGowan, Ian Rushe, Rory McMicken and Evan McMicken.
U16 league
Athlone U16 boys had their first outing of 2019 and played host to Moate in division 1 of the league on Sunday last. Played in difficult conditions with a gale-force wind blowing a strong very Moate side came out on top. Well done to all the lads who togged out. The second round of the league is fixed for Sunday the 24th of February, details to follow.
