Westmeath GAA presented a cheque for €2,000 to the Spirit of Shankly Supporters' Trust and members of Sean Cox's family during half-time in yesterday's O'Byrne Cup game between the Lake County and Kildare at The Downs.
The gesture comes after a benefit match between Meath and Dublin raised thousands of euro for the former Dunboyne GAA chairman who is continuing his recovery at the National Rehabilitation Hospital in Dun Laoghaire from the serious brain injuries he sustained in an unprovoked assault outside Anfield before Liverpool's Champions League semi-final first leg against Roma last April.
