Junior B final

Crookedwood 1-10 Cullion 1-10. We had to give second best to a good Cullion team in the Junior B Final. After a good 1st half we held a four-point lead at the break, with captain Richie Crowley leading by example. However, Cullion flew out of the blocks in the 2nd half and scored 1-4 without reply to take control of the game. We finally awoke from our slumber with points from Richie and Brendan McCarthy bringing it back to a one-point game. But that was as good as it got. Cullion got the next two points to restore their three-point lead and Richie replied with a pointed free with three minutes remaining. The remainder of the game saw us go in search of a goal, but Cullion got the last score of the game, a point to close it out and deservedly win by three.  Team; Adam Mitchell, D.Hyland, K.Orme, T.Brennan, N.Kiernan, A.Savage (1-1), G.McGovern, S.Savage (0-1), A.Boyhan, R.Crowley (0-6), E.Murray, N.Bardon, C.Savage, G.Brennan (0-1), C.McGovern. Subs; C.Gilbert for C.Savage, B.McCarthy (0-1) for C.McGovern, C.Bawle for C.Gilbert, J.J. Brennan, C.Yourell, A.O’Mara. The club would like to thank all players and management for their efforts and dedication throughout the year.

Christmas bag pack.

Our annual bag pack will take place in Buckleys Supervalu on the 22nd, 23rd, and 24th December. All club members are asked to make themselves available for a couple of hours for this vital fundraiser. The more that do it the less everyone will have to do. Please contact Chris McCarthy or Kieran McKenna for more details.

Westmeath GAA

Joe Quaid made a winning start to his tenure of Westmeath hurling manager with a comprehensive Keogh Cup victory over Wicklow in Cusack Park on Sunday. Shane McGovern played the full game and Barry O Mara was introduced in the 2nd half. Well done to all involved. The Westmeath footballers also had a good day at the office, registering a win away to Carlow in the O’Byrne Cup.
