Shandonagh club notes

November 05, 2018

Shandonagh U20s bowed out of the U20 championship at the quarter final stage on Saturday in Athlone. The game was played in damp blustery conditions and the hosts playing with the aid of the wind started strongly and led by 2-2 to 0-0 after 10 minutes.

The Shandonagh lads recovered from the poor start and responded to trail by 2-8 to 0-4 at half time after Athlone lost a player to a straight red late in the half.

A strong start to the second half with a penalty and two points quickly on the board saw the lead reduced to 5 points. The hosts regained control and extended their lead again to deservedly win by 3-12 to 1-9.

Good luck to Athlone in the semi final and thanks to all the squad for the great effort which resulted in a very memorable year.

Set dancing classes continuing every Wednesday night from 8pm to 9pm in Shandonagh club house at cost of €5. All welcome.
