Westmeath GAA have appointed a full time strength and conditioning coach to help develop their declining underage structure.

The move is just one of the steps that the county board are taking to help develop the fortunes of the county’s underage hurlers and footballers.

Dublin native Chris Moore who is an experienced chartered physiotherapist has been appointed to the position and his role will cover all county teams from senior down to underage.

Moore’s most recent job was with Spanish Second Division B side Real Murcia and he brings a wealth of experienced to the role.

When county board delegates were informed about the appointment, a general question from the floor was where the funds would come to pay a full time coach.

County Board secretary Pat Reilly told the delegates that a grant from Croke Park would go some way to funding the appointment.
